Badjelly is a witch whose powers are on the fritz. Attempting to create a magic-restoring boy/girl soup, she enlists her bumbling giant assistant, Dulboot to find children for her soup-pot. But Dulboot foolishly returns with a cow instead. Siblings Tim and Rose realise their beloved cow Lucy is missing. They set out to find her and discover a world unlike anything they’ve ever seen; dazzling magic, wondrous characters and an unstable witch’s curse.

The kids meet Binklebonk; a paranoid Tree Goblin struggling with local trouser robbers, Rusty; a water-intolerant mechanical lion, Mudwiggle; the world's strongest worm-slash-ferry operator, and Dinglemouse; former banana-turned-swashbuckling mouse. The gang travel with Tim & Rose through many strange places, including a field of dangerous Confusalilies, the foggy, froggy Fwomp Swamp and over the Bearded Mountain to face off with the “horridible” witch terrorising the valley - Badjelly.
